Huh? I thought we were broke?

Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section

Found this radio gem recently and subsequently was reminded that radio is a medium whose qualities stand up well in the modern age of mass visual self-posted fun (guilty!). I guess that talent is what shines through and that the delivery system is very much in second place to the content. I hope there are to be more shows from this collection of gifted individuals – the music is really good too, they are such good players.

Blue is the colour . . .

Against all the odds, beyond all imagining, the Chelsea ten got through. That was the most amazing game of football I’ve ever watched. Torres scoring at the end confirmed the idea that this occurred in an alternative dimension to the one we normally live in. Gives hope to the idea that however impossible and bleak things look in our lives, it is possible to have the desired outcome, but first, you have to have faith. As a Spurs fan, it is odd to find oneself screaming in delight at the achievement of the ‘enemy’. Well done Chelsea, that was amazing! ‘And Chelsea, Chelsea is their name . . . ’

Todt: Only a minority against F1

“FIA president Jean Todt remains adamant it was the right decision for the Bahrain race to go ahead – as he insists only a minority are protesting against it” – Autosport website, 9:37 am, 22 April 2012. So that’s ok then, we can ignore a minority can’t we. That makes it ok, which is a relief. They’re probably only an annoying set of poor people expressing their hope for a more democratic society to live in. F1 can safely ignore them I suppose. Leadership is a wonderful quality and we’re so lucky to have it when we need it. I suspect these are the decisions we arrive at when money is the most important factor. Which throws the light back on politicians. Maybe if they had expressed their reservations before the teams went to Bahrain that might have been better.

What a great site! While away the hours listening to a fascinating assortment of new music!

Not that I wish to strum my own acoustic guitar but I have a page on it too: Follow this link. I think that does count as a strum actually . . .

F1 coverage – Sky v BBC

Have to say Sky have been impressive with their F1 coverage so far, very comprehensive and enjoyable. The only area that they don’t quite match BBC is the live online TV. The BBC must have some very impressive technology in that department, learnt from their iPlayer experience I would guess. You get a bigger picture form BBC (last year at least) and none of the ‘obtaining license to show video’ nonsense that Sky go through. It’s all been better than I had feared from Sky this year. Congratulations and thanks, I do love to watch F1!

This assessment follows qualifying – the race will be the true comparison and there, Sky have some interesting features to try . . .

Google and it’s new targeted advertising

So you buy something online, then every site you visit after that has ads for the thing you’ve just bought. Is that clever? No, not really. Is that helpful? No, not really. It’s boring! You’ve already bought the thing you wanted. It would be more intersting to have ads about something you haven’t already bought! Humans seem to want to control other humans in the hope that they themselves will prosper and not die of hunger. I think life is more random than Google Directors would like it to be. Google, just do what you do so well and live and let live. Stop trying to control the universe, it’s better left to follow its own course and what happens is what happens. That’s what I think at the moment – maybe I haven’t understood correctly. Maybe I’m a bit dumb. Maybe Google will disconnect me from the web. Luckily, no one reads my blog so I should be ok. Maybe.
